About this tool

Generate one or more random MAC addresses using your browser's cryptographic random source, formatted with colons, hyphens, dots or no separator. Nothing leaves your browser.

Frequently asked questions

What does locally-administered mean?
The second-least-significant bit of the first octet is set so the address belongs to the locally-administered space and will not collide with vendor-assigned hardware addresses.
Are these unicast addresses?
Yes — the least-significant bit of the first octet is cleared, marking each address as unicast rather than multicast.
