About this tool
GIF Maker builds an animated GIF from a set of still images. Add your pictures in any order, drag them up or down to sequence them, choose how long each frame is shown and whether the animation loops, and the tool composes them into a single looping GIF entirely in your browser.
The first image sets the aspect ratio: every frame is scaled to fit a shared canvas of your chosen width, centred, with transparent letterboxing preserved so PNG transparency survives. Encoding uses the gifenc palette quantizer, so each frame is reduced to 256 colours — ideal for icons, screenshots and simple animations.
Nothing is uploaded. Your images are read, resized and encoded locally, so they never leave your device and the tool works offline. To keep memory in check a GIF is limited to the first 300 frames.
Frequently asked questions
What image formats can I add?
Any raster image your browser can decode, including PNG, JPEG, WebP and GIF (the first frame of an animated GIF is used). PNG and WebP transparency is kept; JPEG has no transparency.
Is the output lossless?
No. GIF stores at most 256 colours per frame, so photographic images are colour-quantized and re-encoded; flat graphics with few colours stay close to the original, while gradients may show banding.
How do I control the speed?
The frame delay sets how many milliseconds each image is displayed — a smaller delay means a faster animation. The same delay is applied to every frame, and looping can be turned on or off with the loop checkbox.
Are my images uploaded?
No. All decoding, resizing and GIF encoding happen locally in your browser, so your pictures never leave your device and nothing is sent to any server.
