Insert page numbers into a PDF in seconds. Pick one of six positions (top or bottom; left, center or right), a numbering format — plain numbers, “1 of N”, or “- 1 -” — the starting number and the font size, then download the numbered file.
Numbering happens entirely in your browser with pdf-lib: your file never leaves your device and nothing is uploaded, so reports, theses and legal documents stay private. The numbers are drawn in clean Helvetica and become part of each page, so they show up in every viewer and in print.
A custom start number is handy when the document is a chapter of a larger work — start at 47 and the pages run 47, 48, 49 and so on.
Frequently asked questions
Where can the numbers be placed?
Six positions: bottom-left, bottom-center, bottom-right, top-left, top-center and top-right, with a consistent margin from the page edge.
Can numbering start at something other than 1?
Yes — set the “Start at” value and every page is offset accordingly, which is useful for chapters extracted from a longer document.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The numbers are stamped locally in your browser with pdf-lib; your file never leaves your device.
What if the page already has a number?
The new number is drawn on top of the existing content, so pick a position or margin area that is empty to avoid overlapping an existing footer.
